Yes, Toyota's problems is widespread, but if you dig back, Mercedes also had unintended acceleration problem in the early 90s. Also, I am quite certain the BMW 545i (2004) I just sold also had the problem, especially after a 'cold start'. Toyota is being 'punished' for some other reasons. I have no idea what, but I am sure it has something to do with politics. I am not usually a conspiracy theory person, but I do think there is more than what meets the eyes here.
