As e-commerce becomes more and more integrated into consumers’ digital lifestyles, they are increasingly expecting faster and more secure ways to pay online. With the proliferation of places to shop online, comes the need to create and remember more logins and passwords. This creates friction that frequently stops consumers in their tracks and is a leading cause of shopping cart abandonment. American Express introduced Express Checkout, an e-commerce button that lets shoppers pay directly through their Amex accounts, bypassing steps in the checkout process, with a safer more secure way to pay.
